COVID-19 Update

For up-to-date information regarding schools during this time, please visit the following link:

Dear Parents and Families,

I hope this finds you and your family well.  On Tuesday this week, the NSW Premier and Education Minister made an announcement regarding school operations for Term 2. Please find a brief overview below, which is based on all available information at this time.

School Development Days  - Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th April are for Staff only.

Term 2 commences for students on Wednesday 29th April

Week 1-2  - Continuation of learning from home and learning packs.

The school will remain open for students who need to attend. Supervision will be available for these students, and they will engage in the same learning as the students learning at home.

Weeks 3-10 ‘Phased Managed Return’ to School

From Week 3, every student will have the opportunity to start attending school one day a week, with around 25% of students in attendance on any given day.  0ur staff will work through the Premier’s operational guidelines to create a model for Albert Park Public School that will be communicated to you via email, the school website and social media. Your child will be allocated a specific day to be at school, and this will not involve normal classes, but rather a continuation of their learning. Depending on the day, and the staff allocation, they may not have their regular teacher. A roster is being developed to ensure that families with multiple children can attend on the same day, where practicable. We will also continue to adjust our plans based on any new advice we receive from the NSW Department of Education.

The five phases rolled out to all NSW public schools include:

Phase 0. Where we currently are, schools are open for families who need it.

Phase 1. Students at school at least one day per week.

Phase 2. Students at school at least two days per week.

Phase 3. Students at school five days per week with social distancing

Phase 4. Students at school five days per week, with full school activities.

I would like to again reinforce the message that I understand these are challenging times and only ask that families do their best. The health and wellbeing of all families is our key priority and encourage you to aim for a balanced approach to learning at home. The table below outlines the recommended time allocations for students participating in learning at school or at home.

Thank you,

Jenni Smedley

Principal

1 April 2020

Dear Parents and Caregivers

As we move toward the Term 1 vacation period the Department’s Before and After School Care (BASC) team has committed to collecting and collating vital information regarding vacation care.

To support this process, we are asking that all families who require care for their children complete a survey regarding care arrangements for the upcoming holiday period.

The Department is working with vacation care providers to ensure that the needs of all families are met during the Term 1 holiday period.

Please complete the online survey by COB Friday, 3 April 2020 to confirm your child/children’s care requirements, which can be found here:

https://surveys.education.nsw.gov.au/s3/school-holiday-care

If you do not have access to complete the survey online please phone the school to complete an over the phone survey by COB Friday, 3 April 2020.

Kind regards

Jenni Smedley
